A job at McDonald’s is a great opportunity for young adults, equipping them with valuable experience and skills for life. Find out more about what we have to offer.

"When I started out, I was quite nervous, but I had a team around me who helped build my confidence. Now, I’m a manager, helping to guide others: I’ve developed leadership skills and I’m trying to be a role model for the people I work with. You can take those skills and apply them to all sorts of real-life situations."

Joby, Shift Manager

We understand young people

McDonald’s is proud to be one of the largest private sector employers of young people in the UK. Three-quarters of our employees are aged 16-25. For just under half of our people, their job with McDonald’s is their first.

We teach transferable skills

Quite simply, McDonald’s is a great place to learn business skills that last a lifetime. Communication, teamwork and time management are vital to the job our employees do every day. But they are also transferable to many different career paths. If you like what you see while you work here as a student, we have plenty of worthwhile career paths to follow.

The career ladder

Young people can progress quickly at McDonald’s. 95% of our Restaurant Managers started out as Crew Members. Graduates, or those with a few years’ experience under their belts, can join our fast-track Trainee Manager programme. How far and fast you progress after that is limited only by your ability.
